1st Workshop on High Efficiency, Low Emissions Coal-fired Plant
The IEA Clean Coal Centre’s 1st workshop on high efficiency, low emissions coal plant (HELE2016) will provide a unique showcase of the current and emerging technologies which can realise this transition, pushing coal plant efficiencies to 50% and beyond and reducing their environmental impact.
Event details
Date: 23/05/2016 - 25/05/2016
Coal is projected to remain the world’s largest source of power for decades to come, so a transition to higher efficiency power plant must play an essential role in limiting global carbon emissions. Programme highlights include:
State-of-the-art in flexible, ultrasupercritical plant for integration with renewables
High temperature metals for advanced USC plant
Developments in IGCC and IGFC in China and Japan
Beyond steam: Advanced power cycles such as the supercritical CO2 cycle
Advanced pollutant control technologies and upgrading existing power plant
HELE policy in China, Japan, and Europe
Two days of technical sessions at Tokyo’s TEPIA centre for innovation will bring together some of the world’s leading experts in these fields for productive knowledge exchange and networking. The event will finish with a tour of Isogo power plant, renowned for its high efficiency and pioneering multipollutant control system.
International Freiberg Conference on IGCC & XtLTechnologies
The 8th International Freiberg Conference on IGCC & XtL Technologies will be taking place from 12 – 16 June 2016 in Cologne, Germany
Event details
Date: 12/06/2016 - 16/06/2016
The 8th International Freiberg Conference on IGCC & XtL Technologies will be taking place from 12 – 16 June 2016 in Cologne, Germany, which is situated near the Rhenish lignite mining region. This event is jointly organised by the Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering (IEC), TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany) and the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal (Zabrze, Poland). The conference will focus on innovative coal value chains and its scope will include the entire coal value chain from mining to conversion and chemical utilisation.
The event will address a wide range of issues linked to the potential for alternative developments for coal, as well as challenges and opportunities for coal in the global energy economy. Participants are expected to come from diverse fields and industrial branches, ranging from researchers and specialists engaged in fundamental and applied R&D to policymakers, industry experts from coal producing companies as well as equipment and technology providers/manufacturers. Abstract submissions for conference presentations relating to research and experimental studies, new developments, current or planned projects and operational experiences related to innovative coal value chains are welcome (deadline 15th January 2016).
In addition to the scientific programme, which will be held in the Pullman Cologne Hotel situated in the historical Cologne city centre, the event will also include exciting technical tours to a lignite mine, diverse R&D and power plant facilities operated by RWE (one of Europe's biggest energy concern), as well as major chemical plants situated in the Rhenish region. Additionally, the conference programme will also include interesting social events (e.g. welcome reception, conference dinner, Rhine river boat tour and Cologne walking tour) dedicated to facilitate networking and interaction between conference participants.
Seventh International Conference and Exhibition on Mass Mining
The seventh event in the Mass Min series will be held in Sydney, Australia, in May 2016.
Event details
Date: 09/05/2016 - 11/05/2016
The seventh event in the MassMin series will be held in Sydney, Australia, in May 2016. Mass mining participants including researchers, planners, consultants, equipment and service suppliers and mine operators are invited to meet to share experiences and ideas, successes and lessons learnt, and to discuss possible futures resulting from potential new techniques.
The organising committee for Mass Min 2016 are planning a conference aimed at meeting the needs of the assembled group. Technical sessions will be streamed according to the focus of papers from research/technical development, design and planning, improvements and operational matters through a variety of technical, operational and managerial streams.
The last 20 years has seen major transformations in underground mass mining. The organising committee seeks your support and involvement in this conference by attending and participating visits and workshops where we can learn about the future of mass mining together.
